Hi All

Well a week after Bristol and finally getting round to writing my blog, its been a hectic week.

Overall I had a fun time, met some really cool people and sat between Excelsior Comics, a Bristol comic shop and H.R.Lord of "Here Comes Everyone" - you really need to check out her book its very cool - www.carcrash.co.uk. Attendance of the small press half of the event was way up on last year with it getting busy straight away but most of the stall holders there agreed that there were more people looking than buying. Still it was a good couple of days with BritForce # 1 still selling - actually more than # 2 at the moment and it gave me the impetus I needed to start pushing BritForce to news sites and for reviews, hence the busy week.

The second has some points to address which is only to be expected in my first outing and has a BIG spoiler so be warned but is over all positive giving BritForce 3.5 stars out of 5 and a "recommended" from CBO.

I had the stall by myself - something I wont be doing again as I didnt see any of the show at all and only got to talk to other exibitors when they came to my stand.

Well I already booked a table at BICs so onwards and upwards!

Hi All, Well BritForce issue 2 arrived from the printers today and it looks ace! The printers have done a great job of it and the cover has come out really well.

I shall be launching it at Bristols comic con this weekend so look out for me. Also anyone who doesnt know I have created a Facebook profile in the name of "Brit Force" so come along and join me there

Hi All
Well issue 2 is coming on apace, currently being script edited by Andy Winter of Moonface Press, ready for a release at the Small Press Expo in Bristol in May. I have finished the cover and am really pleased with it - was a lot of work but definitely worthwhile.

Came across a couple of problems, the first being that it features a TV personality who no longer works on the program involved though she did when I drew it...and the second being that Gordon Brown is Prime Minister and featured in the pages and by the convention he may no longer be. Much to be said for inventing people in these situations rather than drawing on real life I guess. Ah well it wont spoil peoples enjoyment of the book I am sure.

The strip I did for Violent by Factor Fiction Press will be in the next issue # 17 which is out in May, its just a 7 page piece in the magazine but I was pleased with it.

Got my orders through and have sent them to Diamond, I didn't get as many as I hoped but isn't that always the case! Many thanks to those UK comic shops that are supporting my endeavours it is much appreciated.

So BritForce # 1 should be in the shops soon but never fear if you cant find it I still have some I can send via mail order through the website. Or, as someone posed the question yesterday, if you dont have a paypal account just contact me and I will give you details for cheque payments.

Would be great to hear from more of you that have read the comic - so far I have some great feedback from the public.

On tenderhooks for orders at the moment as that will dictate BritForce's future...I have lettered almost all of issue 2 just one page to finish inking plus a cover so that is almost ready to go...if things work out and I get enough orders to make it worthwhile. I really hope so as I want to make a go of it.

So exciting - so if you havent ordered and fancy grabbing a copy from them they are offering it to pre order at a discount. It is set for a store release date in April - sorry I got my time frames wrong Doh!.

I also went to FP in Birmingham on Saturday and chatted to the friendly and fabulous guys and gal and they showed me the advert in Previews - I know its probably uncool to say but it gave me a real buzz to see BritForce in there.

Hi All

Been a busy time lately as I moved house days before Christmas so have been in chaos for a while, I am finally getting back to some sort of order again.

BritForce is still on line for a March release in the UK which is exciting and I have been relettering issue 2 as well as doing the story edits.

I am also doing some work for Jay at Factor Fiction press which is fun though trickier than I thought, its the first seven pages of a two part story and is very different from my usual work - no muscle men and women in skin tight spandex.

Other irons in the fire too that I don't think I should mention though I am also thinking about trying to get a book I wrote a few years ago published. I have been doing a major rewrite on that, fleshing it out a bit. Its not really the best of times I guess so maybe hold off - besides its really difficult to write a good synopsis!

Dont worry though BritForce is a priority - it just depends on sales in March as to where I go with it

Well had some surprising news yesterday BritForce wasn't in Decembers UK Previews, very strange, Andy from Moonface press is on to it now as we were told it would be in this issue. Most odd. I will keep you upldated

Lettering issue 2 and blimey thats not a quick job lol but halfway through the first part so shouldn't be much longer, had a couple of nights off as I went to a couple of gigs which were both great in different ways one enjoyable with good music the other a total mosh fest. Cool!

Well on my way to finishing the rejig of issue 2, finished the first half and just need to reletter it now, not as much fun as drawing it but hey gotta be done. Got a little bit more redrawing to do on the second half but that shouldn't take too long.

Then I have a small bit of work to do for Violent which I really need to get on with though the deadline is quite long I always prefer to get stuff in as quickly as possible.

Been watching Lost series 5 which was cool, I enjoyed it though it was as inpenetrable as ever there was some stuff answered with more questions being raised at the same time - I believe series 6 is the final series so fingers crossed it all makes sense in the end!

All change - apparently BritForce will be in the issue of UK previews dated December so will be out at the end of November for shops to order. Exciting and scary as usual as its make or break really.

In the meantime Brothers - a comic I illistrated for Moonfacepress has been reviewed at Small Press Big Mouth http://geeksyndicate.wordpress.com/2009/10/29/small-press-big-mouth-episode-11/ and they say some pretty complimentary things about my art - comparing it to early Alan Davis which cant be bad!

Well we're not sure but according to the last contact we had from Diamond UK BritForce should be in Previews UK this week for shipping in December, so if you haven't ordered a copy go and ask your local comic shop to get some in!

Been working on issue 2 again - redrawing the odd panel and sprucing others up, its coming along well with an aimed release at Bristol next year.

Other stuff been watching Bones s 4 which I can thoroughly recommend, the interaction between the characters is great and what really makes the show - though the first two episodes were based in the UK and everyone spoke with a plumb in their mouths or broad cockney, quite surprising for such an inteligent series to decend to the usual trite charicatures. But thats easily forgiven.

Hi All

Well, back from a weekend at BICs and back to reality. Pretty tired but had a great time. I was on the Moonface Press Table with Andy Winter selling and chatting with the passing trade and visitors. We did pretty well over the weekend and speaking for myself, BritForce sold more than I had hoped which was a bonus plus plenty of positive comments.

Saturday was pretty busy with a steady stream of people coming, looking, chatting and buying. Socialising at these events is always a great part of it and I met some cool people who I really enjoyed chatting to and would especially like to thank Andy’s friends for making me feel so welcome in the evening when we went for a meal. We went to a Handmade Burger Restaurant then on to a rock pub and I had a great time.

Sunday was a late start for me and was a quieter day, as you would expect but still trade was steady and plenty more chatting. Until the show wound up

All in all I had a great time, tiring sure, but equally inspiring and energising and it was great to hang with Andy on the table and admire his ability to sell and sum up BritForce in a perfect sound bite – I paraphrase – “British super heroes who team up to battle a sect of religious zealots led by a man who believes he is the Messiah”

Bad news and good news, Diamond US say no unfortunately, despite being hopefull its not unexpected really, given some of the titles they have been declining. However Diamond UK will be distributing it Yay! Since I imagined that the UK would be my core audience thats great news. Should be in Decembers Previews but thats awaiting confimation.

So will be starting a push soon to raise awareness, get a few reviews etc - its a challenge but a good one - Exciting!

At BICs this weekend on the Moonface Press table so come along and say Hi I should have a photocopy of issue 2 as well

Hi All

Still no news Aaaargh!

Well I have watched Doll House and my feelings are kinda meh. It was ok - I enjoyed it but never had the "I must watch the next episode" feeling I have had from other series. It had some nice touches especially towards the end but I mainly had the feeling of where is this all going throughout which was answered in the final episode of series 1, good episode but that just left me "meh" again (dont want to go into detail as anything I say could spoil it) Still it was loads better than the ever dull Sarah Connor Chronicals

So now the choices are Firefly again - to be capped off with Serenity or Babylon 5. Hmm decisions decisions - all depends on when the new series of Bones and Lost are coming out on DVD...

Hi all

Been awhile since my last post, sorry for that but I haven't been in the best of health so everything has been on hold.

Getting back to feeling human again now so had hoped I would be able to give you some great news but believe it or not still nothing from Diamond, its getting very frustrating as I want to move forward but their lack of response leaves me in limbo. My publisher has chased but apparently all his contacts have left the co. Added to the frustration will be the embarassment of trying to launch the comic again when we should have been able to capitalise on Bristols exposure. Grrr. The devil farts in my face again Percy

On a very mionor plus, my recovery period gave me time to watch all 5 series of Angel back to back which was really cool, after I finished my Buffy binge viewing of course. One thing I noticed is that there aren't really any happy endings in it but I guess thats all part of atoning for 150 years of murder and mayhem. I am curious to see Dollhouse - I have heard mixed reviews of it but always like to make up my own mind

For fear of sounding like a broken record, still no news from Diamond - sooooo frustrating!!! Its been 2 months now and my glass half empty side is thinking its a "no" but my half full side is still hoping. Will be chasing them at the end of this month so hope half full side is right.

In the meantime I have drawn 3 new pages for issue 2 and am reading through it to beef it up and will probably redraw a couple more pages that need a bit of prettying up. I was pleased with them when I did them but now think a little editing wouldn't go amis - after all I want to put out the best product possible.

Nothing new just yet, still no news and Andy of Moonface Press has told me Diamond can take a couple of months to reply...aaarrrgh! I am planning on posting a few pages from upcoming issues of BritForce so you can all see the progress and get an incling of what's to come.

I am still obsessively watching Buffy - on Series 6 now and life has taken a back seat a bit but I will get back on track lol. Decided to give the London Film and Comic con a miss, the logistics of it where bad enough but something else also cropped up which made it impossible. A missed oportunity on my part? Possible but will definitely be going to BICs and maybe some others so catch me there.

Still waiting to hear from Diamond - the tension is killing me - and my fingers are cramping from keeping them crossed so long!

I have been having a break from comic drawing recently to do birthday presents and watch Buffy but will get back to it soon. Am thinking of rejigging what will be issue 2, adding a few pages and reworking the script a little to make it the best that it can be. So thats next on the plan then I will revisit issue 7 (or is that 6 now?) to tidy up the backgrounds

Still waiting to hear from Diamond - not expecting a quick reply but as you can imagine I am on the edge of my seat.

Now thinking of going to the London Film and Comic Con in July - they have a small press area which is very reasonably priced with plenty of traffic, however, I have never actually been to one so am uming and ahing a bit.

Finished the first draft of inking on issue 7 of BritForce and am really pleased with it so far, now I have to revisit and add some detail like Britannias tattoo plus the backgrounds - I find it easier to ink the figures first then do the background later - it seems to make the process quicker.

Fingers crossed - bugger that Everything crossed! BritForce has been sent to Diamond distributers. Would like to say I am confident as I have a lot of belief in the quality of BritForce, I know its a quality product, however, from what I hear Diamond are rejecting titles here there and everywhere so you just never know. It wont be the end if they dont it but would certainly make life easier

I am now considering whether to go to the Leeds comic con, I have heard loads of great things about it and the tables are reasonably priced so it seems like a good idea

Definitely going to be at Birmingham on the Moonfacepress table and think that will be a cracking show

Hi All

Well got back from The Bristol Comic Con yesterday and had a lot of fun in the end

Panic ensued on Friday when I arrived as the hotel told me they didn't have my comics! I checked with the organisers and at the SP Expo hotel but nothing...disaster! But somehow I was calm, a little despondant but calm and settled down in the bar to mingle and drown my sorrows in lemonaid - no really.

Got up on Saturday and started my search again, the organisers were great helping as best they could and Andy Winter of Moonface press assured me they should be there so I asked at reception one last time and what do you know - after a 10 minute search they found them - huge sigh of relief!!

As I say I had fun at the convention thanks to the great people I was sitting near and others that I met...and I sold more copies of BritForce than I had expected to which was great. The turn out wasn't huge as ticket sales had been limited to 500 apparently less than a quarter of previous years and the set out of the areas wasnt ideal as a seller but hey they were little, easilly overcome niggles

So now its onwards and upwards - BritForce will be submitted to Diamond this week so everything crossed for that.

Not quite a disaster but definitely worrying - the printer wont be able to deliver BritForce until this Friday and then only to the hotel of the convention - aaargh! - I have their assurance so am just keeping everything crossed as it will be extremely embarassing if I dont get them plus the waste of money of getting a table etc

But gotta think positive - they will be there, they will be there - I will repeat that mantra for 5 hours every day

My apologies to thouse of you who have already ordered it - I will get them in the post to you next Monday or Tuesday

Oh the frustration, BritForce hasn't arrived yet! I am sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation of seeing it in print. However I am still able to take orders to fill once received - in the next day or so hopefully.

Got my pass for the SP Expo this week so moving ahead with that though I have heard that the convention will be smaller than previous years so posibly not the best time to launch - typical of my luck lol ah well I will have fun anyway and try not to spend too much money - but all those lovely comics just draw me in!!!

Ordered some badges to take along and give away, not loads so it will be first come first served

Planning on starting a marketing campaign once I have my hands on the books so keep your eyes peeled who knows where BritForce may turn up!

Hi All,

Britforce is now at the printers and the finished item should be in my hands by Friday or early next week, its very exciting to finaly see it all in print after all the unforseen delays I have encontered.

I have decided to combine issue 1 and 2 into a 64 page reasonably priced monster, with the current financial climate and Diamonds changed submissions limits it made more sense. That doesn't mean that I am going to abandon plans for an ongoing series, infact I am currently fnishing off issue 7 and having a great time doing it.

So soon it will be full steam ahead. I have booked a table at the SP Expo in Bristol http://www.spexpo.co.uk/ for the 9th May where I will launch BritForce on an unsuspecting public. They will also be available in the main Comic Expo from my publishers table - Moonface Press http://www.moonfacepress.com/ along with copies of Brothers - written by Any Winter and illustrated by me - check that out too! I will be on the Moonface Press table on Sunday 10th so feel free to say hi!

I am also planning to sell BritfForce through my website through Paypal so look out for that.

All in all a pretty exciting time and now a new Blog so I can keep you all updated
